Some information about me and my web site
vintage radios. I am a small collector of
antique radio sets - I currently have approximately 3-4 dozen radios in
my collection (pict01 , pict02
, pict03 , pict04
, pict05 ,
pict06 , pict07) - and interested in wireless
and broadcast history. My first interest was wood table radios from the
1950s and 1960s, but my interests eventually broadened to include bakelite
and plastic radios, as well as radios from the 1940s, 70s, and even transistor
radios from the 60s.Why do I collect old radios? These radios are art. To their designers, appearance was as important as function. The radios I've collected appeal to me visually the way no modern appliance does. Each cabinet design was an artist's statement. I ask myself why design and marketing decisions were made, what programs were heard through these very radios. I think about how our culture was transformed by these devices. This home page is dedicated to that pursuit.
Since 2000 February I have my own web server directory in galeria.olh.hu/orh. I am hier a Webmaster. From 1999 November to 2000 February my home page were located at www.extra.hu/oldradio. The "Old Hungarian Radios Homepage" web site is the third hungarian old-time radio related web site. You find here 2350 photos, 645 web-pages and 245 Mb web-space. My web site have approx. 650-700 visitors per month. Many people come to my web site in search of some type of radio information. I get e-mail! While I appreciate the attention, I have but a limited amount of free time in which to answer questions. You can use my web directory, with information about all my pages. New pages are listed here. Don´t forget to sign my guestbook.
